Benefits of Chanting Hanuman Chalisa
The benefits of chanting (reading or reciting) Hanuman Chalisa lines is believed to attract Shri Hanuman Ji’s grace – invoking his divine intervention to remove fear and solve serious problems in everyday, material and spiritual life.
If you have more time then you can also chant Hanuman Chalisa 108 times, which is said to bring immediate results, if done faithfully and with purity of the mind.
Whether you chant once, 7 times, 11 times, 100 times or 108 times, the benefits of Hanuman Chalisa are many so here are a few from my own personal experiences in my life so far, believe me:
- Gain mental and physical strength
- Develop wisdom and intellect
- Helps you gain knowledge
- Develop confidence and self-esteem
- Saves you from big, life threatening troubles
- Brings you closer to God by giving you bhakti
- Will assist you in financial crisis
- Will resolve any personal or business relationship issues
- Gives you peace of mind
- Provides good health and wellbeing
- Make you more physically active
- Makes you more compassionate and serving
- Fills you with unconditional love
- Makes you a great human being
The Hanuman Chalisa can ideally be read or recited in early mornings and evenings, specifically before or during sunrise, and during or after sunset. You can also recite it during your daily commute to work (like me) or before going to sleep at night.
We believe it doesn’t really matter as long as your heart is filled with devotion, your mind is pure and you have maintained good hygiene standards during the period of chanting, reading or reciting.
Hanuman Chalisa benefits EVERYONE, and everything!
The Writer of Hanuman Chalisa
The full lyrics to the Hanuman Chalisa was originally written in the Awadhi language (Eastern Hindi language connected to Ayodhya, the ancient town, and birthplace of Lord Rama) by Sant Goswami Tulsidas, in the 16th century.
It illustrates the qualities of Shri Hanuman Ji – his immense strength, unrivalled courage, knowledge and wisdom, celibacy, dedication, and his eternal love and devotion to Lord Rama.
Why was the Hanuman Chalisa Written
According to historical references, Goswami Tulsidas, a bhakt (devotee) of Lord Rama, was summoned and imprisoned by Aurangzeb, the emperor of Delhi.
It was during this short time in prison that Goswami Tulsidas had either written or recited the Hanuman Chalisa Lyrics in Awadhi language with divine intervention.
It is believed that upon the completion of the full Hanuman Chalisa Song or poem in prison, Goswami Tulsidas had invoked the divine powers of Lord hanuman Ji, which resulted in thousands of monkeys menacing the city of Delhi.
This event prompted Aurangzeb to realise that he had indeed invited the wrath of Lord Hanuman Ji, and that he should release Goswami Tulsidas Ji.
He ordered the release of Goswami Tulsidas and urged him to pray to Lord Hanuman to intervene and stop the menacing monkeys in the city of Delhi.
This is why Goswami Tulsidas writes in one of chaupais of the Hanuman Chalisa that whoever chants it in purity and full of bhakti (devotion) to Lord Hanuman, they will receive Lord Hanuman’s grace and blessings.
